For 2018 the British National Hot Air Balloon Championships will be taking place in Thouars, France alongside the Thouars Hot Air Balloon Festival. After 17 balloon pilots competed in 2017 the move abroad for more reliable weather will hopefully encourage more pilots to compete for the national championship.

Each year has seen more young and new competition pilots take part in the event, and this year seems set to be no different.
